Spectators at Burghley Horse Trials 2012, sponsored by Land Rover, were treated to a feast of world class sport with no fewer than six previous Burghley Champions and seven London 2012 Olympic medallists amongst the eighty five entries from eleven countries.
Early honours went to America with Sinead Halpin and Manoir de Carneville receiving below forty penalties; however, with less than twenty penalties or one cross country refusal separating the top fifty after dressage, the chase for this year's title was wide open.
Eight penalties or two Show Jumping fence knock downs separated the top four, so who would hold their nerve to take the first prize?
